Entrance GateThis story is all about heart and soul. What could be more heartfelt than saying “thank you” to the men and women of our armed forces who daily put their lives on the line. Here at Griffin & Company, we especially enjoy our clients’ contributing to causes that truly make a difference.

Last Friday, we had the opportunity to attend Boulder Crest Retreat’s grand opening of its 37-acre, first-class sanctuary for the Wounded Warrior Project. The ceremony was attended by military leaders, active-duty service members, Wounded Warriors and their families.

Main LodgeThe day-long event included a speech from Admiral Sandy Winnefeld, vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, tours of the retreat, string bands, a barbeque meal and outdoor activities with a quintessential campfire and s’mores to top off the day.

Located atop the peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains in rural Bluemont, Va., this retreat will provide the families and friends of America’s Wounded Warriors with a place to “reconnect, recreate, recover and reintegrate” with their loved ones as they are rehabilitating in nearby hospitals.
Guest LodgeThe goal of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower our service men and women who have been injured while protecting our country. The organization depends on donations and volunteers to continue to provide its services to our veterans. When they approached Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division about donating one of its CITY MULTI systems for the new reception center at the retreat, Mitsubishi Electric was happy to participate. We hope the VRF zoning system will offer the wounded soldiers and their families a year-round comfortable and CITY MULTI Outdoor Unitsrelaxing environment as they go through the long journey of recovery.

The Mitsubishi Electric system will also help the founders of the retreat reach their goals to minimize operational expenses and create a long-term, sustainable facility.
